William’s father, William, Sr. and his uncles, James Robert and Frank, purchased the Bristol Mills at the foot of Pond Street, following ownership by John Dorrance, in 1874. They operated it until 1866. William B. Rogers lived from 1881-1936 and is interred in Bristol Cemetery. -

John Schafer (photographer) and his wife Anna (1874-1929) lived at 536 Swain Street. Their daughter Ethel Schafer Phillips (1900-1980) also resided at that home address.

[Tracy daughters at Christmas at 519 Buckley Street]
This photo was taken inside the house at 519 Buckley Street, which was built in 1891 for Clara and Samuel Appleton. The house stood at the corner of Buckley and Beaver Streets. Upon the death of the Appleton’s in 1894 and 1895, it became the property of the Robert Pearson family. Their daughter Laura Pearson inherited it. She had married Roy Tracy. They had a daughter Winifred Virginia Tracy. She is believed to be the smaller girl facing the camera. She was born on October 26, 1909 and was probably four years old when this photo was taken, which would make this photo date circa 1913. The other girl in the photo is unidentified. The photo was taken in one of the two living rooms and the dining room of the Tracy residence at 519 Buckley Street. Winifred Tracy (Korz) died on September 24, 1993. -

This Inn was the original meeting place of the Council. The event was sponsored by Bristol Cultural & Historical Foundation. -
[Smith family photograph taken on south side of Jefferson Avenue next to Pear Street]
Note the row of houses on the left side. This row of houses formerly stood on Pear Street between Jefferson and Logan Streets.
The family is the Smith family of Lafayette Street. This was a double house and they are seated in the yard of the second house east of Pear Street (note the iron fence directly behind the people). Warner J. Steel Mill is in the background. The picture was probably taken by an itinerant photographer who either lived there or was photographing for the day at that location. In 1884 Josiah was a wool sorter in the mills. Their home was on Lafayette Street near Cedar Street.

Annie Gertrude Smith was the mother of Mildred Bell Hansom (1909-1997) whose daughter Margaret Hanson provided the information and identification. -
