[Landreth Seed Baseball Team]
Dave Landreth, owner, is seated on the ground in the middle. The field is Sullivan’s Field on Otter Street. The sign says Spencer’s Furniture store at the corner of Mill and Radcliffe Streets. The field has been replaced by a school called Penn Co. Technical School. -
[Landreth Seed Baseball Team 1938]
This photograph was taken on a field between the Pennsylvania Railroad and Otter Street called Sullivan’s Field. The score board is Spencer’s Furniture. Spencer operated a Furniture store at Mill and Radcliffe Streets. Landreth Seed Team was from the Landreth Seed Farm, between Green Lane and Radcliffe Street to the Edgely Section of Bristol Township.
David Landreth is kneeling in front row, 4th from left. The field is now the building of the Penco Tech School.

[People skating at first Grundy Skating Rink constructed in 1970 at Jefferson Avenue and Prospect Streets]
Later a roof was added and then it was totally enclosed in 1975. It burned in 1995 and a new rink complex was constructed at Beaver and Canal Streets and was opened in 1997. -

Weight of fish was 330 pounds, length 8 feet 6 inches, Roe 50 pounds, sold to Chesbrow (restaurant) Bros., New York for $200. Donated on behalf of the Appleton, Updyke, Poulette, & Harvey families. -

Bathers in the Delaware River. This was a park of Burlington Island opposite Bristol. Access was by boat between 1917 and 1934. There were powered amusement rides; fire ruined the amusements in 1934. It had a carousel, roller coaster, a small train, etc. Steamboats brought people from Wilmington, DE, Philadelphia, and Trenton to the park. -

The bank (white building with columns) is visible and to the left of the bank is the Scott home, number 220 Radcliffe Street. The photograph was taken when the Delaware River was frozen over, perhaps near the turn of the 20th century. -

Silver Lake is located at the corner of Bath Road and US Route 13. It is no longer used for bathing due to water pollution from construction of Levittown in 1950s. -

[Fleetwings bowling league]
Stamped on back of photograph: "Kaiser Cargo Incorporated Fleetwings Division Bristol Penna."
This is the bowling alley, located on the second floor of a building at the corner of Farragut Avenue and Monroe Street, Bristol. The photo was taken to show the Fleetwings Aircraft Corp. bowling league. The company was called Kaiser Cargo after Henry Kaiser became involved with ownership. Note the office workers wearing neckties. The building in which the bowling alley was located was built for the Harriman Shipyard (WWI) as a commissary for the workers. -

Ralph Walker and Al Bowers are wearing YMA shirts (Young Men's Association) standing before a camping tent. Note the canoe paddle on the right. The man (Al Bowers) on the right holds a sign perhaps painted on wood which reads “Pal O’ Mine." This may have been a name for their tent.

This previously had been marked as members of the Y.M.A (Young Men’s Association), a club in Bristol. Camping and canoe races were very popular. This photograph was taken along the Delaware River near Bristol. -

The canoes are owned by members of the Y.M.A. Club (Young Men’s Association) of Bristol. In 1929, their headquarters was at 407 Radcliffe Street. The photo was at Burlington Island. -
Postcard: "Island Beach, N.J."
Canoe Race of the Young Men’s Association. Burlington Island Beach park attracted many people from Bristol. Between 1900 and 1917, the area was mostly used for swimming, boating, and picnics. In about 1917, an amusement park was created with various amusement rides. The park burned in 1928 and again in 1934, and all summer activities ceased. Bristol had a Y.M.A club (Young Men’s Association) and canoes used by members was a popular summer activity. The word Nichols on the front was the name of the photographer. Nichols started their studio after WWI. -
[Large building believed to have been the bath house at Burlington Island Park]
Opened in 1900, the park attracted thousands in season. Until 1917, only small amusements rides (swings etc.) were available. In 1917 large amusements continued until fire nearly destroyed the island’s rides in 1928. In 1934 another fire finished the job. Swimming, boating, and picnics were always popular. -

Mitchel Ancker was born in 1907 and died in 1975. The 18 in the date above probably refers to 1918. He would have been in Grade 6 about that time. The picture may have been given to him on Christmas (December 25) of that year --Harold and Carol Mitchener.
